Local nurses found the Well Child Center (WCC) in 1972 with the compassion to help children less fortunate. For almost 50 years, we have remained dedicated to helping children and their families through education, counseling, and services in the areas of pediatric dental health and childhood nutrition, respectively.
At the WCC, we believe that no child in need should have to suffer due to their family’s financial limitations. However, the need for quality pediatric dental care and access to nutritious foods remains limited—especially while navigating a pandemic.
We rely on our donors and partners to maintain our diverse programs. Won’t you help?
Please consider a tax-deductible donation to WCC as part of your end of year giving. Our center is an asset to the community! Helping us now will ensure that children, in our community, do not forego critical preventative dental care or skip their next meal.
· WCC and the Special Supplement Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program helps local, low-income families. Research shows that WIC participation is associated with reduced infant mortality, more nutritious diets for young children and may improve food security for families.
· Our “First Tooth” program integrates a child’s one-year WIC appointment and a dental service appointment as part of WCC’s initiative to eliminate childhood dental decay. This program model — recommended by the American Dental Association — is unique to Well Child Center as it is the only one within the state of Illinois. All children are welcome at WCC’s Pediatric Dental Clinic regardless of insurance status.
